What is The Sly Stallone Ab Workout?

One thing I bet you are curious about is the Stallone Ab Workout.  Despite the fact that the guy is 60 years old, he still has a 6 pack that a 20 year old would envy.  Obviously we remember that Rocky Balboa built his abs with bridges, but what ab exercises are included in the Stallone workout?  Well why not have him tell you himself.  This video from his short lived TV show The Contender, Sly describe his ab workout in detail along with his trainer Gunnar Peterson

  • Swiss Ball Crunches
  • Leg Raises
  • Rotational Crunch
  • Kneeling Cable Crunches
  • Ab Crunch Complex

stallone ab workoutAs you might expect there really is nothing fancy to this workout.  Though I have to admit his use of the rotational crunch is an idea that I had not thought about.  It is also interesting to see some of his additional training at the end of the video.  So of it looks left over from his Rocky Balboa training.  Though since it was a promo for his TV show you have to wonder how much of it was real.  Still though, it is funny to see that Sly recommends the Ab wheel.  How much money is wasted each year on new secrets to get great abs?  The Ab Wheel literally was probably the first piece of ab equipment ever invented, and it is still around.  It is still around because it works.  Nothing fancy, just years of proven results.

So that gives you a look at how Sly built his impressive abs.  Obviously his diet had a huge part to play in this.  I will be looking into that in a future post, but at least now you know what he does for abs.  After watching that video now I want to try the rotational crunches.  Which part of the Stallone Ab workout are you going to try?
